Botox injections have been used for decades in medicine and cosmetic dermatology. Botox is best known for the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles, and folds on the face, but has been used for many years in addressing medical conditions such as chronic headaches, cervical dystonia, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and even overactive bladder. When used on facial areas to reduce muscle contractions, it was found that Botox can greatly improve the texture of the face—reducing the appearance of wrinkles and folds on specific areas. Botox is best used on areas of the face where wrinkles are formed due to muscle contractions, including around the eyes (crow’s feet), between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) and on the forehead. These areas respond best to injections of Botox for turning back the hands of time.
Our dental office is excited to allow patients to incorporate cosmetic injections for the face during regular dental appointments. Botox injections last approximately six months, so many of our patients complete injections when they arrive for their six month check-up. This is done to ensure the results are maintained and patients feel confident in how they look to others.
