Foods for Strong Teeth

Our diet can have a tremendous impact on the growth and health of our teeth. While you may have read many different things about foods that are bad for your teeth, there are also some that can help keep your smile happy and strong! Here five foods that will leave your teeth and gums looking and feeling great.

#1. Fish

Fish is great for your body for many different reasons. It’s an excellent choice if you’re currently wearing braces, as it’s also soft and not likely to stick on your teeth. Fish is rich in vitamin D and helps your bones stay strong and healthy. If your bones become too weak, the more extreme cases might result in tooth loss. Bone health is just as essential to oral health as it is for the rest of your body!

#2. Kale

Even though kale might get stuck in your teeth, it’s very rich in vitamin C. Having your daily dose of vitamin C can be helpful in controlling inflammation in the gums. This is partly due to the fact that vitamin C plays an essential role in the immune system, which fights off free radicals that might cause your gums to become inflamed.

#3. Yogurt (Pure with no sugar added)

Natural yogurt can have a very positive impact on your teeth. However, it’s important to find a brand that has no additional sugars added to the product, as sugar promotes cavities and allows cavity-causing bacteria to flourish. Pure yogurt is full of calcium that’s great for your bones just like vitamin D.

#4. Celery

Celery is almost like nature’s toothbrush. It’s mostly water, which adds to its natural cleaning properties. Additionally, the stringy, tough texture helps to scrape off debris and buildup on teeth. Adding extra water to your diet, in general, has a lot of positive effects on every part of your body from your nails to your brain!

#5. Green Tea

Green tea is an excellent way to detox your body. Tea contains polyphenols that can help reduce inflammation and control or prevent infections. If you’re prone to gum disease or gum infections, green tea is a great addition to your diet. Better yet, it even contains a bit of caffeine to give you a healthy boost during the day!
